Finishing the Kitchen

We have continued working on the kitchen... and still have more to do! Here is the kitchen from around when I posted last: We then worked on the counters for the cabinets that we moved... These cabinets were where the stove is now. They are now next to the fridge and house my coffee bar. We stained and did 3 coats of Waterlox on the counters. This is an area that we added to the right of the stove. It will house my pots and pans! We did the same for this countertop. We finished tiling the wall (the last couple tiles have since been installed). We are contemplating building a plant shelf on the window. Winston had a chance to test out the new sink. Cover and Khloe have been enjoying the beautiful weather with their new haircuts.   We worked on the shoe storage bench and storage cabinet. We also stained the drink cart (to the left in the picture) to match the rest of the counters. We fostered these two (yes, we had four dogs for

Another Kitchen Update...

At the Bois Bungalow, we are about 90% done with our kitchen remodel! I am pretty excited to share with you pictures of our kitchen from the past couple months.  We installed a large and beautiful apron front sink and new chrome faucet.  The counters were sanded and ready for stain. I stained the majority of the counters and then we began working on the tile. There were some uneven areas that we leveled out. Tiling was a slow and tedious job, but I really enjoyed it! Thomas thought I was crazy, but when he saw it completed, he agreed! Next, the grout! We chose white grout. I feel like white g

Kitchen Update

We are now weeks into our kitchen renovation and we are over the mid-project hump. We have done so much... Warning, this post is going to be picture heavy. Our kitchen used to be Laminate City. It was horrid... A counter top that matched (?) our cabinets. Who thinks that's a good idea? Look at this beauty: We ripped out the 'backsplash' and the counters. We found that previous owners had wired behind the backsplash. Great decisions... We have made countless trips to Home Depot, Ace, and Lowes. The dogs like to come with us.  We moved a section of cabinets so that we could place the stove on an exterior wall to vent outside. After moving the cabinets, we found there was a hole in the floors that we had not anticipated. This would have to be repaired, sanded, and stained to match the rest of the kitchen fir floors.  When ripping the backsplash out, we found evidence of the original faucet. We chose to go with simple white subway tile
